fat vs. bmi

At my gym they have this calculator thing they punch in your height and weight and you grip the handles and it tells you your bmi and your fat%. I don't know what it's called. She does my measurements once a month and yesterday my bmi was down but fat was up. I lost 6 pounds. I'm confused. I know a decent about about bmi but not fat. I'm working out 5-6 times a week so how is my fat going up. Any help from you ladies that know better than me?

those things are inaccurate.  the only sure way to calculate body fat is via calipers.

Just like the scale, those body fat tools aren't always a true indicator.  To get an accurate reading, you can't had had food or liquids for 2-3 hours prior.  Most of us don't go that long between meals/drinks.

BMI is calculated based on the height and weight.  So that's down because your weight went down.
