On a recent doctor's visit, I was told my blood sugar is too high---124 fasting. Not terrible, but not good, either. Something inside me snapped. My weight has been getting steadily higher since the birth of my first child, 26 years ago. I'd half heartedly tried to lose weight over the years, but finally decided, enough is enough. My blood pressure is high; my cholsterol is high; now my blood sugar's high. I've adopted a diabetic diet. I read Mike Huckabee's book about his 100 pound weight loss. My favorite line from the book is, "Nothing tastes as good as it feels to be thin." He recommends simply not eating high sugar, high fat, high calorie foods at all. As hard as that sounds, I have been doing it. I do have cravings, but keep reminding myself that I want to lose weight and have better health. I drink water or a diet soft drink when I want to eat things I shouldn't. I haven't really started exercising yet, but am going to follow his suggestion and start with 12 minutes of exercise, because anyone can do that. I can walk for 12 minutes, working my way up to more. In three weeks, I've lost 9 1/2 pounds. Like Governor Huckabee, I need to lose 100 pounds. I have a long journey ahead of me and want to keep focused on my goal of good health.

Since it is a month long challenge we were not sending daily emails. Just a few reminder emails and challenges during the course of the challenge.

However that may change!  :)
