My scale tells me how many calories I should consume. 1776, would I lose more weight if I consumed closer to 1200? I have no idea how this works...

No have one of the ladies caculate your bmr. It you only consume 1200 calories a day when your bmr says est. 1700 then your body will go into starvation mode and it will hold on to weight and stall your weight loss. Your body needs a certain amount of "fuel" to properly burn fat.

That's what I thought. So I'll listen to my scale. I just seen some sites that said 1200 burns more. Thanks

1200 is going to be too low for just about everyone. I can do your BMR for you to give you a true range to eat within and you can compare to the 1776 the scale says...I need your age, height, weight, whether you are BFing, and the # of days per week you workout.

23, 5'3, 150lbs, not bfing and I can't actually exercise. I have a few injuries. I just try to move around the house a lot.

Maintenance while sedentary: 1495*1.2=1794 

It is not recommended to cut any calories as this would put you below your BMR...

1495-1794 calories per day to maintain...

Maintenance while working out 1-3 days per week: 1495*1.375=2055

To lose 1 lb per week: 2055-500=1555

Ideal range is 1495-1555 per day. 

I understand injury very well. I'm the queen of injuries in this group it seems. LOL ...do what you can!
