Leg pain

When I'm working out & do something that requires jumping, not jumping jacks but things like jumping rope, I get this short pain in the front of my legs (not my thigh, like in front of my calf) when I land.
I'm not in very good shape at the moment, could this be why? I'm 197 pounds.

Could it be shin splints?  Are you wearing good shoes that aren't worn out?

What kind of workout are you doing? Is it something that requires a lot of plyometrics? Are you on carpet, wood, or concrete when working out? Are you barefoot or shod?

it was actually the first level of the thirty day shred. the part where you have to do the jump rope thing. I'm on hard wood and wearing tennis shoes, not the best shoes, but better than nothing. =/

I'd look into better shoes.  How are you landing on your foot, on the balls of your feet, or on a flat foot?  Are you landing on soft knees?  My thought is shin splints, too.  Shoes will make or break your workouts!  Shoes and bras are the two big things I CANNOT cheap out on.

It's shin splints. I get them. Get light shoes with good support. Never wear big heavy shoes. Ice your shins if the pain gets bad. Ibuprophen helps. They aren't dangerous or harmful, just annoying as heck!

Definitely look into something better, a pair of shoes that are better able to withstand the impact.
