Spring Exercise Challenge Day 10: Flex and Stretch

Welcome to day 10 of the Spring Exercise Challenge!

Flexibility training and stretching are just as important to fitness as cardio and strength training.

Flexibility exercises are designed to keep muscles, tendons and joints flexible and improve range of motion.

The importance of flexibility training and stretching include:

  • Decreased chance of injury
  • Improved performance
  • Improved posture
  • Reduced risk of lower back pain
  • Improved muscle coordination
  • Increased blood flow and nutrients to the tissue

Pilates, Yoga and stretching are all forms of flexibility training. One of the easiest ways to work on your flexibility is by stretching.


For today's challenge do/attempt to do one of the above flexibility videos.

I do stretches daily, ive tried yoga but its just not for me. Id love to try pilates.

Are you familiar with flexibility training? yes

How often do you stretch? before each workout

I do streaches most days, really need to step it up and do them more.

I always stretch before and after a workout. Never done yoga or pilates before, though.

I do not think I have heard about this training. 

I do yoga sometimes. I really feel great when I am done. 

I stretch some everyday but not real long deep stretching that I feel I should do.

I stretch before every workout so I won't strain or pull anything.

I will be honest I do not ever stretch until its to late and Ive already hurt myself.  I know dumb move I have no idea what I have against stretching or if Im just so hard lazy I just dont.  Anyways after checking out the videos I am sure I can fit some of these moves in and hopefully see some difference

I do pilates and piyo one day a week each and stretch at home too 

we also stretch a little after every zumba class.

I love stretching :)
