Bob Harpers advice.. agree or disagree?

He has a book out and it basically goes through a 3 week diet, doing it "his" way. He suggests 800 calories a day for women, and 1200 a day for men. The workouts are pretty intense, too. I'm not sure that I'd have the energy to do the workouts while only eating 800 calories.

I'm not doing this diet. I was asked to review it for my blog and I said no after finding out these details.

It's Bob Harper, though.. he knows what he's doing, right? So, would you follow such a restrictive diet?

Geez, no.  That's crazy.  All the more reason I have a love/hate relationship with The Biggest Loser- it just further promotes this crap.  SMH.

800 calories doesn't sound healthy...I'm no expert though. How would you keep that up? I'm trying to do realistic things that I could do long term to keep weight off..not just lose it and gain it back.

He was recently on Rachael Ray's show with Shaun T and I want to say she was asking him about this book.  They didn't say the amount of calories though.

Here is the clip of it.  http://www.rachaelrayshow.com/show/segments/view/bob-harpers-3-week-weight-loss-plan/

The Today show explains it a lot better and it doesn't sound as bad because he isn't counting calories from fruits or veggies in that 800.

You also can't have *any* fruit on week 3... and veggies don't have many calories anyway... so I wonder if he replaces fruits with something else on week 3 or if you really eat 800 calories a day?

I dunno. I mean, if you aren't counting fruits and veggies, it *kind of* makes sense...but not entirely. I wouldn't do it simply because it's a weight loss book/plan and I'm in this to get healthy and have a healthy relationship with food.

No idea and not willing to buy the book to find out.  It just seems a little too fad diet to me.

Nope...  you'll put your body into starvation and no weight will come off right.

Wow that doesn't seem healthy at all. I eat that many calories in fruit a day easy...I couldn't imagine going to no fruit.

DISAGREE.

I would not do that.
