I need your age, height, weight, if you are breastfeeding and how many days per week you workout. If you can also tell us what workouts you are doing, how often and how long, that will help us use the proper formula.

OK - I am 5'11" and 239lbs. I do yoga 3 times a week and 40 min to an hour of cardio 6 days a week. Not breastfeeding. Thanks!!

BMR: 1864

1864 x 1.55 = 2889

2889 - 500 = 2389

To lose 1-2 lbs per week, consume 1864-2389 calories per day.

Wow - that just seems like a lot of calories. At what point do I begin to lower the number of calories a day?

You have to recalculate every 5-10 lb loss..it will automatically go down as you lose weight as your needs change.
