I am 40 5'1 220, I walk 4-5x a week for 1 hour, on treadmill I can do 3mph but not faster than that... yet!  I also do a hip hop ab dvd 1-2x a week and also a tracy anderson mat workout 50min low impact areobic type workout 1x a week.

I use the loose it app on my phone and it gave me about 1600ish calorie per day... My goal is to get to 180 and then once there I would like to get to 150. I am trying to not look at 150 right now as to not get discouraged. I'm taking it 20lbs at a time. I  started at 240 in March.

Just joined this group a few weeks now!

Thanks!!

Wow, great job on those first 20 lbs!  That's awesome!

I'm with you- I can NEVER look at what lies ahead.  I have to focus on what I've already done, or it's too overwhelming.  You'll get there!  =)

Here are the numbers for you:

BMR: 1711

1711 x 1.55 = 2652

2652 - 500 = 2152

To lose 1-2 lbs per week, consume 1711-2152 calories per day.

Thanks so much!! Seems like I have been stuck at 220 now for a few weeks!!! So maybe the 1600ish is not working for me anymore!!!

How do you calculate the BMR b/c I am not sure what all those #'s above mean? LOL

We use a website, but there is also an equation that you can use..

BMR: 1711 ( this is the least amount of calories your body needs to function and be inactive each day...)

Maintenance while working out 3-5 days per week: 1711*1.55=2652 ( this is what you would need to maintain your current weight)

To lose 1 lb per week: 2652-500=2152

Your ideal calorie range is 1711-2152 calories per day to lose 1 lb per week.

The maintenance is gotten by multiplying your BMR by your activity level ( Harris Benedict Formula).

Here is the website we use:
