I'm sure it's been asked, but here it is again. On MFP should I be eating back my exersize calories? It is set at 1200 daily, and after my workout it brings it to around 1600. I am so nervous about even touching 1600.

Could you help me do mine? I've been to different sites and the calories range. Im 20 5'4 and weigh 249 and I exercise at least 5 times a week 30 mins a day. I've been doing mfp but the calories I need are alot less than what the bmr says. Ive been eating 1390 calories or less a day and I think im eating to few calories but im not sure. Ive lost 6 lbs in about a month but I didnt see any results this past week.

Quoting musicpisces:

BMR: 1665 (this is the minimum number of calories your body requires to function normally)

1665 x 1.55 = 2581 (this is the number of calories you would need to eat to maintain your current weight at your current activity level)

2581 - 500 = 2081 (to create a deficit)

To lose 1-2 lbs per week, consume 1665-2081 calories per day.

I'm about the same as you. I'm 23, 5'4", and 159. MFP has given me 1,580 calories to eat. I lost anout 6 pounds too and didn't lose any on Friday. I usually weigh in on Fridays.

Sure!

BMR: 1945

1945 x 1.55 = 3015

3015 - 500 = 2515

To lose 1-2 lbs per week, consume 1945-2515 calories per day.

I agree, you're eating way too few calories, mama!  =)  Now that said, be aware that you won't see results every single week.  You may even go a month without results, then BAM, 5 lbs gone.  Trust in the process, and try to be patient.  Keep making smart decisions, and you WILL get there!  You can do it!!  I was 269 lbs when I started, and right now, I'm 161 and still losing!  I also eat about 2200 calories per day, BTW.

I think it is one of the hardest things for people to understand....you have to eat enough to actually lose weight!

Quoting musicpisces:

I know it seems counterintuitive, but if you don't give your body enough calorie to function properly, it starts shutting down normal processes in an effort to conserve calories, which will slow your metabolism and make you plateau pretty quickly.  You'll have more energy and get better results this way.  Good luck!  =)

Quoting lind.shep:

Thank you! Seems strange to need to eat so much.

Sure!

BMR: 1569 + 500 for breastfeeding = 2069 (this is the minimum you should be eating each day)

1569 x 1.55 = 2432

To lose 1-2 lbs per week, consume 2069-2432 calories per day.

Oh wow!! Now, This is strictly calorie intake of healthy foods correct??? Meaning, you can't eat two cheeseburgers and say "well I've had my calories for the day I'm done" right??

1 mom liked this

LOL, right!  Especially while breastfeeding, making healthy choices and choosing whole, real foods is really important.
