Get Fit Challenge Day 1: Cardiovascular Exercise

Welcome to Day 1 of our Get Fit Challenge!

Let's begin with Cardiovascular Exercise.
Cardiovascular exercise is any activity you are involved in that gets your heart rate up to a working level.

This is why cardio is important to health and fitness:

  • Burns calories, helping you to lose weight
  • Strengthens your heart
  • Increases lung capacity
  • Helps to reduce stress
  • Helps to reduce the risk of heart attack, high cholesterol, high blood pressure and diabetes


There are many forms of cardiovascular exercise. Choose one that best fits your lifestyle and personality. Whoever said working out can't be FUN!

Outdoor cardio workouts: running, hiking, cycling, swimming and walking
Gym cardio workouts: treadmills, ellipticals, rowing machines, stationary bikes and any aerobic class
Home cardio workouts: dancing in your living room, vigorously cleaning and scrubbing the house, and a variety of videos online as well as at  CafeMom Studios that you can use.

Whatever your cardio exercise of choice is, it is important to do it for at least 30 minutes a day, 3-4 times a week.

Today's challenge is to incorporate cardio into your day.

I have an elliptical and treadmill, i try to do two days a week but usually only get about twenty minutes once a week, im hoping to squeeze more in soon

Started 30 min at day cardio/ abs in the morning. Mix in stretching. Felling better and can move better after only 2 weeks!

I'm working on the 3-2-1 dvd and it works you in only 30 min. Love it so far.

I've only done the 30 day shred. I like it, she just talks too much lol. I'm sweating and breathing hard and she's just talking!!

I just keep my eyes on the modified version person and keep puffing away:)
I think that's the dvd I'm using.
