calories?

If you count calories how many do you eat (on average) a day? How tall are you and what is your weight loss goal(-1#/week for example). And how much weight total are you trying to lose?

I'm 5'5 185 lbs. trying to lose 20 lbs. I try to eat only 1700 calories a day at hopes of losing .5/1 pounds a week.

I am 5'7" 208 and trying to initially lose 50 pounds.  I use my fitness pal to calculate my calories.  I'm supposed to eat 1,280 a day unless I exercise, which I often do.  I trying to lose about 2 lbs/week.

Mfp tells me to eat nearly 2,000 cal. I'm 5'9 & 270. I think that's way too many cals

I'm 5'4", started at 153, currently at 136, goal is 125. I eat 1300 plus I eat back my workout calories, so I generally eat about 1450-1500. I'm losing about 1 pound per week, although I was losing about 2lb per week when I started.

I'm 5'9 too,I started at 249. When I first started i believe I was eating close to 2300. I'm now down to 194. Make a separate post for these wonderful ladies to figure out your bmr for you.that's the absolute minimum calories you should be eating each day.

I typically eat anywhere from 1400-2000 calories/day...depends on the day and my activity.  My BMR is around 1600, so I try to eat at least that much.   I haven't been working out regularly in several months, but I'm trying to focus more on my intake than anything.  It's more about what you eat than how much in my opinion.  Good luck!

I'm 5ft 7. When I started- I was 239.  Ate about 1600 a day- lost 10 lbs in two weeks then got stuck. Found this group and found out I need to eat more.  Upped it to about 2100 and started losing again

Now, I'm mid 150's (155 last check) and I eat about 15-1600 average and work out (lots of zumba) 5-6 days a week at least an hour if not 2 or 3.

I don't put a time frame on it- because of plateaus and such that happen- I hope for about 5 lbs a month though- sometimes it's more, sometimes less.   I have lost 84 lbs so far (was 85-but went to visit hubby and gained a few back to re-lose) it has taken about 2 yrs
