Welcome to Day 4 of the Slimdown for Summer Challenge!

Make sure you post below after you have completed the daily exercises.

Here are today's exercises:

30 Jumping Jacks

40 Crunches

20 Tricep Dips

Side Lunges - 25 each side

50 Butt Kickers

10 Jump Squats

30 Russian Twists

Here is today's clean recipe:

Maple Nut Granola

Ingredients:

  • 5 cups old-fashioned rolled oats
  • 1 cup unsweetened coconut flakes
  • ½ cup sliced almonds
  • ½ cup coarsely chopped pecans
  • ½ cup light brown sugar
  • ⅓ cup unsalted pumpkin seeds
  • ⅓ cup unsalted sunflower seeds
  • ½ cup pure maple syrup
  • ½ cup water
  • ¼ cup coconut oil
  • ½ cup dried cranberries
  • ½ cup raisins

Directions:

  • Preheat oven to 275°F.
  • Combine oats, coconut, almonds, pecans, brown sugar, pumpkin seeds and sunflower seeds in a large bowl. Combine syrup, water and oil in a medium bowl or large measuring cup and pour over the oat mixture; stir until well combined. Spread the mixture into a large (12-by-15-inch) roasting pan or large rimmed baking sheet.
  • Bake for 45 minutes. Remove from the oven, stir, and continue baking until golden brown and beginning to crisp, about 45 minutes more. Stir in cranberries and raisins. Let cool completely before storing.

I'm really feeling these. Work up sore from yesterdays already but its a good feeling telling me its working! Im adding this recipe to my shopping list!

I really like russian twists, and don't like them lol but need the lunges.

I like the variety of exercises so theres not really anything I need more of just like seeing whats next.

Todays snacks include carrots, pea pods and strawberries.

My legs are like jelley from all the squats and jumping! :(  This is why I lose interest in working out.  It is too much, too fast, too intense and I hurt and lose motivation to continue.

Thank you for the recipes - I appreciate the ideas!  Other snacks for me would be peanut butter and celery, walnuts and dark chocolate.   I can't always do the suggested number of the exercises, but I'm hoping to improve as the weeks go by.
