Slim Down for Summer Day 23: Workout Preferences

Welcome to Day 23 of the Slim Down for Summer Challenge!

Make sure you post below after you have completed the daily exercises.

Here are today's exercises:

60 Push Ups

35 Leg Curls

40 Leg Lifts

Here is today's clean recipe:

Blueberry-Ricotta Pancakes

Ingredients:

  • ½ cup whole-wheat pastry flour (or almond flour flour)
  • ¼ cup plus 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour (or almond flour)
  • 1 teaspoon sucanat or turbinado sugar
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • ¼ teaspoon baking soda
  • ½ teaspoon freshly grated nutmeg
  • ¾ cup part-skim ricotta cheese
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 large egg white
  • ½ cup nonfat buttermilk,
  • 1 teaspoon freshly grated lemon zest
  • 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
  • 2 teaspoons coconut oil, divided
  • ¾ cup fresh or frozen (not thawed) blueberries

Directions:

  • Whisk whole-wheat flour, all-purpose flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda and nutmeg in a small bowl. Whisk ricotta, egg, egg white, buttermilk, lemon zest and juice in a large bowl until smooth. Stir the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients until just combined.
  • Brush a large nonstick skillet with ½ teaspoon oil and place over medium heat until hot. Using a generous ¼ cup of batter for each pancake, pour the batter for 2 pancakes into the pan, sprinkle blueberries on each pancake and cook until the edges are dry and bubbles begin to form, about 2 minutes. Flip the pancakes and cook until golden brown, about 2 minutes more. Repeat with the remaining oil, batter and berries, adjusting the heat as necessary to prevent burning.

Make sure you stretch, do 15 - 20 minutes of cardio and drink at least 8 glasses of water a day.

I like to try and work out first thing in the morning before I start my day. I hate push ups. I usually do good with everything but them. Sometimes I do stuff by myself, but I do better with a partner. Unless I'm mad and then I can work out for hours by myself.

I prefer to work out in the morning and alone. However, I have a sensitive stomach and sometimes I can't work out in the morning.

morning before everyone's awake I go to the gym. I love my me time.

Done. Had to do half push ups at beginning and half at end. Have a weak right wrist that hurts even with a good brace on

Being a mom of five Lil boys I workout whenever a can fit it in. Just me and sometimes one of them wants to "workout" with mommy.

I prefer to workout in the morning. I do it by myself.

I prefer to workout alone however if one of my girlfriends want to tag along I give them fair warning that I'm not a talker so don't bother. I like to be in the zone. Lately I have been working out twice a day. Sometimes in the morning and at night or I will workout in the afternoon then again two hours later.

I like to workout alone, unless I'm hiking. I have more motivation at night.
