Hi, I am a mother of 3 from Texas. I've been overweight most of my life. I recently (May 2,2007) had the lapband surgery. I have approximately 140lbs to lose. During the 2 weeks following the surgery I was on a liquid diet...lots of protien shakes! During those 2 weeks, I lost 18 lbs! I was so excited. But, 4 weeks later, and I am struggling with my weight!! See, I thought getting the band was the "easy" way out. Let me tell you, it hasn't been! Yes, the band helps to keep me full longer. It helps me to eat less in one sitting than I did before. The problem is, that you are not supposed to drink anything while you are eatting or for an hour and a half after you're done eatting. Well, I've been cheating and drinking with meals...this allows me to eat more in one sitting and more times a day. I'm not quite sure what to do!! When I'm "good", I lose weight. I've now come to the conclusion that my weight problem is not a "hunger" issue, but an addiction to food and emotional/bored eatting!!! The band WILL help, but it is not a cure. I still MUST DIET!!!! I guess I'm just venting. It's really frustrating to see my mom...who also has the band and has lost over 100lbs...succeeding and I'm failing so miserably!! Hopefully, some support and advise will help me. PLEASE do not get me wrong...THE BAND WORKS.....AMAZINGLY!!! BUT, you have to use this tool correctly!!! Thanks for having a place for me to come and vent!
