I'm Tammy, 44 yrs old and mom of 2.  I don't have small children, they basically do for themselves.  I'm married to a great guy and he supports me totally.

Ok, I started releasing weight October '07 at about 240 lbs.  I currently weigh 185 lbs.  My lowest was 170 lbs until I started gaining weight in February.

Alittle about myself:  I have Degenerative Disc Disease (not really a disease, it's a condition) in 3 discs (L3,4&5).  I have nerve damage and it causes extreme pain in my left leg.  I walk for exercise everyother day, have to have the day in between to recover.  I walk about 2 hrs. as fast as I can.  And with a cane!  Before you ask, there is nothing more the dr's can do for me.  No surgeon will touch me.  I have to manage my pain, that's it.  There are nights I don't sleep, like this one.

I'm not allowed to lift weights, dr's orders.  It can further damage my discs. I don't need, or want that.

So losing weight is a challenge for me. I have not given up.  I won't.  My goal is 160 lbs.  If I can get there, I'd be the happiest person alive!!!!  I swear I would be.

Right now my problen is eatin at night.  I do so well during the day, then 9pm comes and I'm in the cabinets looking for something to snack on.  I eat yogurt, sugar free pudding and things like that.  But I can't keep my hands off the sugar loaded sweets too.  I have a problem!

So, I'll keep you all posted on my progress.

  • CW:  185 lbs

    GW:  160 lbs.

I walked for 2 hrs on the 29th, so this will be my recover day.  Maybe I'll take a short walk. I'll see how I feel.

I OFFICIALLY weigh in on FRIDAYs. But I do weigh myself everyday.  It keeps me in line.  I'm aware of the daily fluctuations. Don't worry.

    "See" you all later!!!!

  • Today is Friday!  Weigh in!

    LW:  185 lbs

    Today:  186.2 lbs

No surprise there!  Ttom is knocking at my door as we speak!  So looks like I'll have to wait to get my "real" weight.

I'll be walking this afternoon, if the rain holds off. We had lots of rain yesterday. I hope it stays away bc I like my walks.

I've been doing this for so long now.  I wish I'd just get to my goal and get on to maintain mode! LOL  October will be 2 yrs of struggling.....

Good day and happy weight loss!

  • Today is Friday and weigh in day!

    LW:  186.2

    CW:  184.6

So I've lost 1.6 lbs this week!  I'll take it.  I really struggled with my night time eating this week.  I cheated and ate ice cream sandwiches and ate a whole bag of BBQ chips over 3 nights.  SHAME ON ME!!!!

I will do better this week!  I did eat healthier this past week though.  Ate lots of fruits and veggies.  I'm going to increase my protein and see if that helps with the wanting to eat at night.  I'll let ya know how it goes.

I was able to walk a few days, so I imagine that helped alot.  On one walk, I burned 800 calories!  It took 2 hours to do it and lots of hills, but I did it!

  • You're doing great! I admire you for working through your pain and not using it as an excuse to sit back and do nothing. Keep posting your progress!

Ok, not the greatest.  But  I'm ok. I'm trying to cut out sugar completely. It's real tough. I want to get back to where I was when I started losing weight almost 2 yrs ago. Yeah, it's been 2 yrs of struggling to get to my goal. I refuse to give up!  I WILL get to my goal weight.

Sorry it took me so long to post my progress. I'll try to come back more often.

I'll keep you updated for sure!

  • Have you ever heard of Callanetics?  Most people haven't :)  It's a really low impact routine that uses your own weight for the workout.  You do these miniscule movements in certain positions and it works your entire body.  Best thing about it?  It's specifically designed for people with back and joint problems.  The video also has people doing the movements the wrong way so she corrects them on screen and gives different ways to do it so you can find which is best for you.  My sister-in-law used it in the 80's and lost a good deal of weight and was in the best shape of her life.  My daughter's going back to school on monday and I'll be starting my video (Beginning Callanetics) then.  I'm really looking forward to it!  You may want to check it out, here's a clip just in case your interested.

Like I said, I haven't tried it just yet, but the theory is sound, it's really laid back and may be something that could help you :)  Good luck!

  • What about water arobics?  The water helps  with the movements and you might not have as long to recover?

**I've had a rough couple months.  My pain is really hard to mng lately and even with the meds I take, it's hard to move around. So I haven't walked and it's showing up on the scale.  :(

I'm not giving up though!  This is not gonna get the best of me, for sure.  I'm a fighter and this is a lifestyle change for me. So there's no quitting.  How can you quit life?!?!?!  Right?

I'll start writing more often now that I can finally sit long enough to write on here.

    See ya'all next week!!  :)

  • Hello everyone!

I think I'm doing ok with my eating.  I'm still hanging onto 189 so far. Maybe in a day or two I'll see a change on the scale.  I don't pay much attention to the daily number.  I look at the Thursday weigh in to write it down.

I still want to eat at night and I'm really struggling with it.  Maybe one day I won't want to eat at night. Do you think that will ever happen?  For years I've eaten at night. Since I was a kid. And NOW I want to change that.  I'm not hungry, I just want to eat!

I've been walking outside since it's been watm out.  But for the next few days it's going to rain and it's cooling down now. I'll have to make myself do my exercise dvd's.  I HATE those things.  I find it hard to use them everyday.  I get bored.

Well, I'll check in in a few days.  Wish me luck!
