  • cardio, if you build up your cardio first you can work your way onto weight lifting and it will be alot easier for you

  •  I must disagree about doing just cardio then working in to strength training. I have been told by mainy it is important to do both from the beginning. One workout that is really good is the Walk Away the Pounds exercises by Leslie Sansone. She does walking in a totally different way. You will walk some, do side steps, kicks, and knee lifts. She also has these weighted balls which will help give u just a little bit of strength training without over doing it. If you have free Video on Demand on your tv then you can find her workout on there to try out. Or if you have Netflix or Blockbuster where you can have videos delivered to your home. These are my two favorite ways to try out new workouts. Better then buying something and finding it does not work for you.

Oh and with strenght training you only do it every other day the other days you do just cardio this way it gives your muscels time to rest

  • Walking is a good start...trying doing different things when walking. Walk really fast for a minute, then slow down for a minute, walk fast for two minutes, slow down for a minute, etc.. you get the idea. Walk uphill and downhill. I personally walk on my treadmill while I watch a TV show. It makes the time go by way faster. I also carry weights when I do it.

Other good sources of cardio are jogging, HIIT [high intensity interval training], running, bike riding. DVDs are good to start out with too because those can be done inside regardless of the weather.

  • Be sure to pick an activity or type of exercise you enjoy so you will stick with it.  If you know you need an extra push find something to do with friends so you feel you can not miss or you will disappoint others.

That also goes for the time of day you exercise.  I do it in morning so I can not use the excuse of being too tired later in day.
