Ok I know it is late, but here is the question.
Do you have a vegetable plot (if you have a house)?
If so what do you grow?
Yes we have a small garden in our back yard. This year we are offically giving up on the strawberries and going to pull them. We hardly got any the past two years.
We grow green beans, tomatos, Zuchinni, Yellow squash, and one other random vegetable. Last year it was raddishes.

No, we don't currently have anything growing. However I am looking into planting herbs and veggies in some planter pots on our back porch. I am such a novice though, I don't know where to start- or when!
In planter boxes I would deffentatly wait until after the last frost. My two favorite Nurseries are Logan's Trading company and Homewood Nursery and garden center. For the actual planter boxes I'd go to Lowes or Home deopot, but the plants I'd get at a Nursery.

Thank you so much!!! Should I get seeds, or starters?
Oh yes! My husband plants a large garden in our backyard every year.
This year we are giving up the corn. :( Those pesky critters get 'em every year instead of us!
Tomatoes, green beans, this year maybe black beans or others, green/red/yellow bell peppers, yellow squash, this year cucumbers, this year butternut squash. Possibly other items.
Don't forget to hit your local farmer's markets and eat locally!!! :)
Starters all the way for anything you find. most herbs you can get as starters and the harder to start vegetables, tomatoes, peppers, cucumbers..... Those vegetables if you want to try and do them from seeds you have to start them indoors in jiffypots and have the right window for them. LOL I tried it one year. I ended up having to buy the plants cause they nearly all died on me inside. I don't have the right light. :(

LOL the year before we got NONE of our tomatoes. As soon as they started to blush a squirrel would come and nab them.
Quoting MGB2008:Last year we grew tomatoes and jalapeno peppers (from small plants) in planter boxes on our back porch. It was fun, low maintenance, and even tasted pretty good. Only problem that we had were the birds helping themselves to some of the tomatoes.
