Well DH and were 'verbally' engaged for a few months before we actually got around to doing the thing. LOL I even got to pick out my engagement ring. I absolutly love it. :D

But anyway.... about 6 weeks after Steven had the ring and had talked to my folks about it. (my parents are a bit old fashioned) We went out for sushi at our favorite place. after we finshed our huge plate of sushi but before it was taken away.... Steven said "you missed one" and there was a piece of candy that was shaped like a sushi piece with my ring on it.

Welllll.......my hubby-to-be came back from Europe (where he was working at the time) and got down on one knee and asked! Too bad, I was half dressed in my living room as we were getting ready to attend a party at my friend's house! HA HA HA    Thank goodness, there were no pictures and no one else around! :P

My husband proposed in January 2005. I had been having a rough few weeks. I was working 8am-4pm and then coaching a swim team from 5pm-9pm every night since October. I was beyond burnt out at that point. One night I got upset about how we weren't romantic anymore and how we hadn't spent a lot of time together because of me working a lot. We agreed to do something fun the next weekend. I thought we'd do a nice dinner at home. Eric calls me and says he made reservations at Morton's on Newbury St in Boston for Friday night. We go, have a GREAT dinner and then, he wants to walk through the Boston Commons to see if the lake had frozen...mind you, it's LITERALLY 0 degrees out. So, we circle a few times and then find a parking place. We walk along the commons (we're the only crazies there of course!) and he proposed on the bridge over the water. (On a side note, earlier that week, I had been up in Maine for work...Eric drove down to NJ that afternoon to tell my parents...brought my dad a bottle of wine and my mom flowers. Ate some dinner w/them, and then drove on back. Yeah, my parents were wicked impressed w/that.) We had been dating about 8.5 years at this point.

My husband and I were together for 6 years and had already had our oldest daughter when he proposed.  You could say I was expecting it, but I will still surprised.  I was getting ready to have lunch with some friends and as I was about to leave he got down on one knee in our living room and asked me to be his wife.  It was so nice, b/c our daughter was the only other person there.  He also informed me that he had packed my bags and we were leaving that night for a romantic weekend in the mountains.  He said he couldn't wait to ask me, so he just went for it.  This was so out of character for him-so it was a nice surprise.
