6 Inspiring Ways to Spruce Up Your Stairs

Posted by Gabrielle Blair in May 4, 2012 at 1:27 PM

Staircases seem to be the landing place for just about everything; foot traffic, lost socks, folded laundry, spare shoes, you name it! Why mistreat this all-too-traveled pathway in your home with drab, ratty carpet when you could dress it up with a one-of-a-kind runner like the one pictured above?!

Carpet runners aren't your only option though. Click through for 5 more fun ways to dress up your steps

Instead of using carpet, why not some paint instead? Love the white walls and navy (or is that charcoal?) painted runner. Perfection!

Wallpaper on your staircase! I love it. This Orla Kiely line is one of my favorites and looks so happy on those steps.

Mirrored tile, would you dare? Personally, I think it looks amazing! I love the contrast of the antique-looking wood and the very modern-looking shimmery tiles.

These bright stripes are so cool. I'm afraid I'd get a little cross-eyed, though, and fall right on my face!

Numbered stairs -- how creative is this? It seems like an especially cute idea for a family with pre-schoolers who are just learning their 1-2-3s. I can imagine my kids coming up with all sorts of games based on stairs like this.

So does this leave you feeling inspired to give your stairs a little facelift? Have you ever done anything special to your stairs? I'd love to hear!

I really like the numbered stairs.  Too cute!  Oddly enough I like the mirrored look too.  The wallpaper idea is a great one!!
