On Monday I have my 6 week PP check up. And was just wondering how many of you go on a regular basis to get a well woman check up? Do you get a pap smear done? Breasts checked for lumps?

I could have them removed in surgery, but I really don't want to be operated on unless I absolutely have to.

It would freak me out too knowing they are there even if they aren't cancerous.

Quoting telecomgirl:

I go yearly for a pap. No family history of any issues... it's just something I feel the need to do...

One thing I do check all the time are my breasts for lumps. I currently have 2 tumors (1 in each breast). I had biopsies done on them, and they're non-cancerous thankfully. But it still leaves me feeling uneasy to go years and still feel those hard lumps, so frequent checking is something I stay on top of...

I had the same thing happen about a 18 months ago. So scary. I have huge lumps in my breast caused from fibercystic tissue.

Quoting SassyWildflower:

nope--thank God. went through the ultrasound and the mamogram (scary & wierd being the only 20-something in that place!) both came back ok :) i still hold onto that paper i got in the mail. best news of my life to know all was ok.

Quoting sleepy_in_va:

Omg, did anything come of the lump? I'm so scared of finding one.

Quoting SassyWildflower:

I was actually told not to go but every 3 years--uhh..yea whatever. My mom's twin sister died from cervical cancer, my mom had cancerous cells and had a hystorectomy..my sisters have lady issues..I think i'll continue my yearly check ups.

My last one was last November. I found a lump in my left breast and got a full check up. I'll continue to go.

they never did tell me what would be causing mine. i know  a lot of women say they've had them from caffiene? but they never said anything about that with me.

I don't- I only have one ovary and the doctor checks it every few years when the cyst that I have one it gets unbearable. It is a bleeding cyst and every so often it gets huge and the pain becomes horrible and it is located by my appendix so that it wasn't just free floating after my hysterectomy. He has to make sure that it is the cyst hurting and not my appendix. I don't have to worry about cervical cancer or anything like that. I do keep a close eye on the girls because I have fibercystic breast tissue and they are very lumpy. I went through the whole BC scare about 18 months-2 years ago because I found some new lumps. A mammogram with fibercystic breast is not fun.

My doctor thinks mine is because of low estrogen levels from only having one ovary, but she said to cut out caffiene as well. Mine haven't changed very much in the past year. I just know that it is super scary! I found the first lump when I was about 19 and didn't have any changes until I was 30.

 never....

I did not go to my 6 week appointment after Drew... I did go to my 6 week appointment after Bella... then I went one time after that when I thought my IUD fell out (probably 2 years ago).

Other than that I don't go to the doctor.

I go annually.

Over the years I've had a few cysts in my breasts.  It's scary. My mom had a 32 lb cyst removed from her uterus and my maternal g-ma died of ovarian cancer so it's important to get checked,

I only go to the dr if i have complaints , health issues etc.
Not for checkups.
But honestly , practically nobody does that here in the netherlands. Its not common to go for checkups if youre healthy.

GOOD LUCK!!!  I know with cancerous cells there are 4 stages.  I forget the order but it's like 1 is just abnormal and 4 is cancer.. Mine were at a stage 3 so something needed to be done..  I think if you are a stage 1 or 2 they re-test you.  I was retested and that's when it was confirmed to be a stage 3.. They had to take a biopsy and MAN did that HURT..  Please update me when you find out you are A OK!!

Quoting sleepy_in_va:

I have gone every year since having kids. At my last yearly check up in July of 2011 I found out I had tested positive for hpv. I then found out a few weeks later I was pregnant with my 3rd baby. I had a biopsy done while pregnant but nothing wad found to be serious. I was told that my body could fix itself and it could disappear. I'm hoping my body did what it needed to and fixed itself.

Quoting rocamom:

I go every year..  When I was in college the Dr did a papsmear and found abnormal precancerous cells in my cervix.. I had to have them frozen.  Since they I don't miss a year.  It's been about 14 years and the Dr doesn't think they will return but you NEVER know.

Since I'm there for my papsmear they check for lumps and other things..  honestly, I don't mind going so I can make sure i'm healthy for my kids.
