The other day my dh and I decided to head over the Athens, GA to see what it is all about, other than the obvious UGA football. We found out that they have 4 rather boring house museums and a state botanical gardens. Here are a few pics.
This is the ball room from a house called the Taylor-Grady House.
I love the curve of the ceiling. You couldn't see this from the outside- it was just a square. I meant to take exterior pictures, but forgot.
One of the fireplaces. This house was just kind of a let down after the homes we had seen in Savannah.
Me in the Garden of the house.
These are some statues that greet you at the state botanical gardens. There were not a ton of gardens to take pictures of, but it was a nice place with lots of nature trails. We do want to go back here again and take the kids with us. They offer free concerts and admission is only a suggested donation of $2.00, but you don't have to pay that if you don't want to. To me it is definitely worth it. We have decided to take time the rest of the summer and explore different parts of the state.
