1. Run, drop anything you are carrying and run somewhere safe, if you are outside and it is dark, look for somewhere with light, under a street light, or store, most stores have cameras now get somewhere safe and call the police.
2. If you are not able to run, fight until you can run, try and get DNA if you can, scratch the person HARD or bite but try and let that be the last resource because where you can get DNA by biting getting their blood in your mouth is kinda gross.
3. If you are sexually assaulted, fight with everything you have, scratch, bite, hit, kick and immediately call the police if possible or get to a hospital.
4. If you are walking by yourself carry a purse, not a backpack, a purse is easier to drop and run then a backpack is, if someone is looking to hurt you, they can grab the loop on it and you essentially accomplishing their goal of grabbing you. If you have a set of keys (house keys, car keys, gate keys) have them in your hand, they can work as a weapon if you are attacked.
Always remember too that whether you know your attacker or don't, that YOU are the victim, it is NOT your fault that it happened. Never think that if you did something different that it wouldn't have happened.
Break the cycle and if it happens, or has happened, or is happening please report it, whether its Domestic Violence or Random Senseless Violence call the police, it saved my life, it could save yours.
