Still Homeless

For a good year my DH our children and I have been living with his family. Which is great because we have a roof over head, food and running water.

It's still hard because I am working hard on getting my family back on our feet. With my husband now disabled I am working on looking for work and trying to get money for school.

Have you filled out the FAFSA? My husband goes to a local college and the PELL grant covers everything but the cost of his books.

Yes I signed up for FAFSA. I got an email saying that I am approved. I just need to sign up for the classes. Only problem is, UNM has an $15 application fee.

With no job I have no way of paying the $15 =(

Talk to the school, they may just add it to the cost of your 1st semester or waive it altogether. My college ended up waiving my $50 application fee.

I agree with pp. Ask at the bursars (cashiers) office. They will be the one who can tell you if the application fee can be waived or rolled into your first semesters tuition. if that isn't possible, could family pay it for you considering that is literally the only thing stopping you from going back to school?
