both of my parents have passed and the house I considered home was sold a long time ago

No, my parents are both gone.  My bil & his wife live in the house dh's parents lived in, but it isn't the house they were raised in.  The house they were raised in was sold & moved about a mile away and they built a smaller house (and actually a better quality house).  My dh doesn't consider that house home either; but the land he does refer to as the 'homeplace'.  Our home is 'home'; we built our home 28 years ago come next Sept.  We built it on land that was part of the family farm also.

 I do...since I lived there partially growing up, it always seems like home.  But, I also call our home "home" too.

Yes!!!!!!!!!  Always have and always will.  Since I live in my parents house now (due to circumstances beyond my control) I have never slept better.
