As soon as I knew I was going to be ordering Levelors, I went to the Home Depot website and to the Levelor Custom Window pages and started looking at choices.  I am outfitting 5 foot sliders with verticals in a room that gets a lot of use, both as my office and also because it leads to the backyard so everyone walks through.  I have a living/dining room that goes across the front of the house, and my office is separated from the living room by French doors which have a darker stain.  I have a lot of green in the living room and didn't want anything too jarring.

While it was helpful building online, ultimately it was better for me to go to the Home Depot and talk with their specialist in the custom area, and go through the Levelor books.  You could actually see some of the blinds that were there, and in the books you could see the different finishes and colors.  Online I was ordering something that ended up totally different than what I ordered in store.

We ended up going with Vinings verticals, these are a fabric look vinyl with a light vine pattern, and we chose the Tea color. It's not too dark and not too light, will match the other colors in the front rooms and still be flexible enough that if we change decor it will match many colors and styles.

We had to make choices about the valance; it comes with a very plain valance but we upgraded to the Traditional style, which looks like it has crown moulding at the top.  We also chose to do the Backstacker, which means that when you open the blinds, instead of having the thicker stack in the front, it will be at the back, so not so noticeable.  This is also an upcharge.

Because Home Depot is having a 20 percent off all custom window treatment sale, we were easily able to purchase what we liked including the upgrades within the confines of our budget.  In fact, we didn't really look at pricing until we were doing the ordering, and selected based on what worked best and we liked, and not price.  Shipping is free and with the 20 percent off, the pricing was excellent.

We were pleased with the quality of the blinds we saw in store, the selection, and the helpfulness of the Home Depot employee.  We are expecting our blinds in two weeks.

I had a hard time deciding which room and which style and colors to get, there are so many choices!

I went to Home Depot today and the person I talked to was very helpful. We went over all of our options and there were lots of books with samples for us to go through. My favorite are the roman style shades but I had finally decided to get new blinds for my kitchen (which currently does not have any), so we went with 1 and 3/8" metal blinds so they would be easier to clean. My husband likes darker colors and our kitchen is a cream color so we chose Union Gray for our color. I live in an older house and you can never find the right size blind for any of our windows because they are not a standard size. We will be installing them ourselves and they are being delivered directly to our house so we don't even have to bother Running back to Home Depot again which is helpful on our busy schedule.

I did not order swatches or use a designer..I was satified with the samples we were shown at Home Depot and as previosly stated, the young man assisting us was very helpful!

I had a hard time deciding on color. I decided to go into the Home Depot in person to  the custom blinds department so I could feel and touch the different options.

Since I'm doing the front windows that face the street on the first floor I wanted window treatments that open from the top down and that you couldn't see through when closed for privacy.

I went with the cheapest type that fit that criteria which turned out to be the cellular shades. When it got to picking the color out when I was there, I asked the woman helping me for her opinion as well as another Home Depot worker. They were both very nice and helpful. There was also a another man there making a custom blind order as well that weighed in. I also made two calls to friends and asked them their opinion.

In the end I went with 'Mocha' to try to match the dark wood window frames in the apartment. I did have to pay some out of my own pocket to cover the cost of them but I am still really super excited!

You can make an appointment online to meet with the blinds specialist, but I just called and talked to her and told her when I was coming in that night and it worked out well. When I told her that they had to be Levolor she promptly told me that there is a 20% promotion right now. It takes about 2 weeks for them to be ready to pick up. You also have the option to mail them but I opted for pick up.

If anyone at Home Depot reads this, Joanna A. in the blinds department in the Brooklyn store off  Hamilton Avenue is an amazing help and a great employee. Very helpful and knows her stuff!

DD's bedroom has bland, cream-colored walls. Her fave color is yellow and her bedding is purple/green/yellow. So I had envisioned painting the walls lavender and getting yellow window treatments.

She doesn't like that idea, so instead we're going to paint the walls yellow and I'm very happy to see that they have lavender blinds! :)

I ordered swatches in lavender and 3 other colors. Can't wait to see them! DD is 4 and is fascinated by tying things together, so I do NOT trust her with cords. So whatever color we end up choosing, they will be cordless.

I've also considered wood... I think they would be pretty and would still look nice one day when DD is ready to upgrade to more of a "big girl" look for her room. But the colorful blinds seem more fun and I'd like to give her that. :)

I already know I want a Faux wood color, preferably a Walnut.  To match the other wood in the living room.

We went to home depot when we found out we were picked. We looked through the books and at the ones they had in the store.A very nice  lady that works in the dept. helped us with finding prices.I love the faux wood but will probably go with a cheaper one so I can do more windows.I love that they have so many to choose from.I love the colors but white is something you can match to anything.

I like the cordless ones.Cords always seem to get tangles up.We are going to put them up oursleves.Wish us luck.lol. I didnt  take any swatches to bring home.I love all their styles and colors so its just a matter of picking something out.I just cant wait to take the curtains down and throw them away. The kids helped look through the books  and gave their opinions as well.

we first chose what rooms we wanted to do and then went to the website.  Based on the style/theme in each of those rooms we made the decision on which blinds would work best.  Our living room has a western theme, so we went with real wood blinds for that room.  Our family room has a country feel but is used quite a bit more often and our windows are open more often in that room as the window faces the east, so we went with a faux wood for that room.  After prepping my order the blinds actually went on sale 20% off freeing up money for more blinds!!  So we went with metal blinds in red for our boys room.

I did not order any swatches.  I have never used a designer with the excemption I have a personal friend that used to sell Home Interior so I have had her help me choose paint colors and designs for our home.  I often look at design magazines as several coworkers bring them into the office.  I do choose a look and color that goes not only with the theme and color but with the amount of use the window gets, I want to make sure they last!!

I've been thinking about window treatments for my family room window for a long time. When I was chosen for this program I immediately knew which windows, the type f treatment, and the color.

We've chosen Levolor's Accordia shade in candlelight linen. Our window is rather large so we wanted to use our window treatment as a way to bring in another texture. The candlelight color is neutral and complimentary to out carpet, fireplace tile, and couch. We figure this makes our window treatments a safe, long term investment. We can change the look of our room by reprinting and the shades will go with any color we choose.

We are going with the cordless option. We have a school aged child and hoping to adopt a newborn soon and cordless is safer. I also like the neat appearance of cordless.

Our two smaller windows on either side of the large window can be opened from the top or bottom. We feel getting the top down/bottom up feature is important for the functionality of the window. It doesn't appear possible to order top down cordless shades online so we are going into the store to order tomorrow. I can't wait!!

Hi my name is Pam. Again I would like to say a big thank you to Cafemom, Home Depot, and Levolor for giving me this opportunity to make my home beautiful with custom blinds.

While waiting on our gift card to come in the mail I decided to check out www.levolor.com and see what they had where I could get some idea before we headed to Home Depot as to what I wanted to purchase. Hubby and I decided to get some vertical blinds for our sliding glass door that is located in the dining room. What we have on there now came with the house and was very outdated.

This is our before picture of the vertical blinds that are covering our sliding glass door in the dining room....

We received the gift card on Friday afternoon. Saturday morning we decided to take our Home Depot gift card and window measurements to Home Depot so we could do a little shopping. I must say when we got to Home Depot the people there were very friendly and helpful.

The girl who helped us was named Ti. She  was very nice and took us back to the section where they kept the Levolor blinds. They had a display section which I forgot to take a picture of and some books for you to browse thru to look at the different colors and fabrics that you could purchase them in.

Here is me checking out all the different swatches of vertical blinds that they had...

Once we picked out the swatch that we liked Ti entered it in the computer which would bring up the total cost of things. We could also pick out what mounting pieces we wanted. They had several different ones to choose from. We had the chain once before and decided to go with a rod this time. Just to be different. :)

All in all our experience from entering Home Depot and picking out our vertical blinds to checking out with the cashier was wonderful. I love all the different colors of vertical blinds that they had. I would have never thought to go with a bold color when it comes to blinds. The ones we picked out almost look like curtains and matches the color of the walls perfectly. I can't wait to get them home and installed to show you all. They said we should receive them by September 26th. Since they were custom blinds they had to be ordered and shipped to the store. I would definitely go with Levolor in the future to update my home. It almost makes me want to redecorate the rest of the dining room now. :)

Checking out...

Thanks again y'all!!!
