How much would you pay?

For a single regular sized scrumptious cupcake?

What about an over sized one?

What about a themed one? (like a cookie monster or character one?)

Amongst the many ideas for business I have floating around in my head, cupcakes was one of them. Amongst other things, but I have no idea how much to charge if I were to start. Just looking for some feedback on price options.

 Single $2.50

Oversized $4.50

Themed $5.00

That's what I'm guessing but really don't have a clue what cupcakes are going for these days. I know there in though.... There's a place down in D/C where there is always a big long them for cupcakes......

I have no idea what cupcakes sell for.  I do know that I purchased a package of two Hostess cupcakes for $1.00 the other day so I guess probably around $.50-$.75 for one a little more for a character cupcake.

Im a sucker for a good cupcake or any cake, for that matter. I dont know what I'd charge for them, but with word of mouth and the appearance and taste of your cake, you could really do well for yourself, Crystal!

wow, yea I have no idea either. I don't have many bakeries around me and the ones I do have I HATE. I'm sorry but a good icing you should NOT bite into and crunch on sugar crystals. That is unacceptable to me. You beat the living heck out of it until it is dissolved! UGH! LOL My grocery stores sell them around the $2 range that I have noticed. I don't know really, I think I may make a couple dozen mini ones for the local craft fair I am going to, sell them for .50 a piece and have people take a poll and figure it out. I live in a really great community that is helpful in stuff like that so it may be a good idea to test them! lol

lol Hostess are the only ones I really ever buy too LOL that doesn't help me out much though lol I never thought coming up with prices for something as simple as a cupcake would be so difficult LOL

omg word of mouth scares me! HAHAH Thats how I got bombarded with hats remember? LOL at least cupcakes I can make big batches of in one shot. If I get a few more pans I can make more than 2-4 batches at once depending on size

I'm gonna tell you exactly what you should do...start out small and by that I mean go to little festivals, school functions, holiday fundraisers, etc. I did a few craft fairs this year and made nice money! I'm doing it next year too...just for Fall.

The shop near me sells regular size for $2.25, I don't think she does large cupcakes, but she does cakes as well.  There is a restaurant that sells homemade large cupcakes for $3.75 and those suckers are huge!

Can I ask where you are from? I wonder if regionally there is a difference in prices. I'm in jersey.
