I understand punishing children and embarassing them when it calls for it. But some people take it a little too far.
That's sad. Punishment should never entail embarrassment or humiliation; there are more effective ways to punish, without quashing self esteem (which only makes kids feel more hopeless and care less about pleasing anyone).
Peace, and all that jazz...

...I'm a leaf on the wind. Watch me soar...
When my daughter messed ( as kids do) I would show her the correct way. If she messed uo again I would take something from her. Her grades are awesome but she can not clean worth 10 cent. So We clean together. torturing a child won't help them improve themselves and it will actually make them afraid of failing. If a person is afraid of failing then they wont try.
They feel that as long as they are not beating their kids they are not abusing them. However public humiliation is just as bad as a beating sometimes. I have embarassed Shannon from time to time but only because she did the same to me. I showed up at school wearing a housecoat and fuzzy slippers LOL. And when she decided to laze in bed one morning rather than get up and ready for school she would up going to school (getting on the bus and everything) In her Pjs. I couldn't afford to be docked a half day's pay because I was late to work because I had to drive her in the opposite direction from my job to get her to school on time. However shaving a child's head and making them present themselves with a diaper in public...that's child abuse.
A punishment should fit the "crime"
What does a shaved head and a diaper have to do with bad grades. Wouldn't not being able to do anything but study be more effective.
