LA PUENTE, Calif. May 14, 2012 (AP)

The Diaz family awoke to find a Lexus at the bottom of their swimming pool.

The Southern California family tells the San Gabriel Valley Tribune (http://bit.ly/L0zjqa) that drivers navigating the tricky intersection next to their house in La Puente have hit their cinderblock wall before, but early Sunday one of them smashed right through it in his silver sedan, then sank into the pool. A crane later fished out the 2006 Lexus.

California Highway Patrol officer Steve Licon says the driver - 40-year-old Modesto Cabral - was able to escape from the car through the passenger side window and had only minor injuries.

Jail records show he was booked on suspicion of drunken driving and was being held on $10,000 bail. It is not clear whether he's hired an attorney

 Yikes!
This happened to us about 12 years ago.  Except it landed in our front yard about 6 inches away from the house.  2 in the morning, cops knocking at the door, asking, "IS this your car?"  LOL No, mine is in the driveway.

It was the neighbor across the street's car.   Some kids were joyriding in a stolen Explorer, hit the car pushing it in our yard, then took off on foot.

IT was quite the exciting early morning.  LOL

WOW

It kind of looks like part of the wall went through the front windshield?  It's a wonder he wasn't seriously hurt

I heard about this the other day!  What to do when your car overheats on the California Freeway...you drive off the freeway into a swimming pool

Strangely enough. Just I was out there and folks across the street, to whom the car belonged.  LOL

No one heard anything either, until the cops came knocking on our doors.  LOL

It was sad.  Because the car belonged to her 72 yr old dad who lived in Iowa(we're in omaha, ne) and he was staying at their house to get his teeth fixed.  They were trying to figure out how he was going to get home.  LOL
