My youngest son Orion (19 months) is currently up at the children's hospital with my husband. He started running a fever yesterday and refused to eat anything. Today, his fever spiked up to around 103. He still refused to eat and meds weren't bringing his temp down any. I tried a lukewarm bath and it didn't help either. He just wanted me to hold him and ended up puking all over me. My husband came home from work early and took him to the hospital. They did a rectal temp reading when they got there and it was 105. They gave him a dose of motrin and are waiting half an hour to see if it drops at all and will decide what needs to be done from there.

I wish I could be there with him, but someone needs to be here with the other kids and I can't drive. I hope my baby is alright and feels better soon.

My kids always ran horrible high fevers too,I hope he's better today! A childrens hospital is a great resource, they will know what to do.

He is home and feeling a little better. He tested negative for strep and they said it is likely a virus. They just want us to rotate Tylenol and Motrin and keep him hydrated and to follow up with his doctor if he seems to get worse or not improve any.
