I'm all for families receiving assitance, especially in these hard times. But I know of not one but 2 people collecting fraudulently.

One is a mom with kids by a boyfriend...the only reason they wont marry is so she can still collect welfare. He has a great paying job, too!

The other works under the table cleaning houses and lives in her grandmoms house for free. She clears about 400 cleaning houses a week but doesnt report it and still collects all welfare benefits plus a nice chunk in child support!

I feel it's not right and completely unfair to those who really deserve it! What's your opinion on this? I would never say anything because I feel it's not my business to do so but it still makes me mad!

Yeah I hate people like that I know someone who is like that and it just makes me made that people use the styem like that. I actaully report welfare fruad on someone I knew because I was tried of her living a lie and living off others instead of her being a good role model to her kids and get a job.

Disgusting, isn't it? I got pretty disgusted when I was at a neighbors house and noticed she was throwing away cereal. Brand new, unopened boxes of cereal! I asked her why there were boxes of cereal in her trash and she told me she gets it for free from her WIC but her kids don't like the healthy cereal and WIC won't pay for Cocoa Puffs. She threw them away because she didn't have room in her cupboards. This is also the same family that fills their freezer full of Schwan's icecream because apparently Schwan's now accept bridge card. Anyhow, after that conversation -- she offered the cereal to me. I took them and went home. It blows my mind the mindset that some people have. I like the girl, but geez! I was shocked. I wasn't mean to her but I did politely let her know there were better alternatives than throwing away food when so many people are in need.

I think it would depend on the situation. If the family was *just* over the limit but really needed the help (there are so many families in that situation), I don't think I'd report it. If they were just trying to get free help they didn't need, I probably would.

I think there is an anonymous fraud tip line phone number for workmans comp, and Medicare fraud.
