The Dentist - Need to Vent!

So i had to go to the dentist today to have three teeth worked on. Two were old fillings that were started to decay inside (yuck) and 1 was a new one. I go to the dentist every 6 months, but last month i noticed two teeth were turning black inside so i went in and realized i needed that work done. well he put in two needles to numb the top two teeth. WOW that hurt! He said "i really need to talk to your mom about this, because your reactions are over the top for a needle" im 25...he doesn't need to talk to my mom (im sure he was kidding). i hate the sound of the drill so he gave me his ipod and his noise canceling headphones, but nothing cancels sound that is going on INSIDE your mouth, LOL. and then i felt the separator half way through so he went to numb that section quickly but he jabbed me so fast the numbing stuff squirted all over my mouth and my tongue went numb. he was finally done with the top and did the bottom. which wasnt too bad. i just couldnt believe he told me that the needles don't hurt that bad. they DO hurt...VERY bad...for me anyway. I cant speak for anyone else. In the end he gave me the needle that reversed the numbing so i could go out in public without drooling. anyway, that was my 1 hour at the dentist. Popped two pain relievers cuz now i have a headache from all the drilling. thanks for reading! :) bow down

Good for you for going and getting things taken care of! I love my dentist, they aren't all the same at all. I had one guy whose chairside manner was awesome, very likable, but he did lousy work,I'd always have to come back to get what he did wrong fixed.

Wow you did three at once. My dentist wouldn't do that. That's way to much. I had three failing fillings and a new small one. Each one was done over several weeks. I hate needles too. Drills are bad too. Especially on the top. Ugh the last one I was supposed to get done turned out to be ok. I was so relieved. I was so anxious Over the whole thing. I am now done until my last cleaning. The dentist before I found this one was horrible. I was so relived to find this practice.

My dentist puts the numbing gel on for a good 10-15min before I get a shot. I don't like needles and I have a very high tollerence to the medication. So if you would normally get 1 shot I get 3 or 4. It's no fun.
