Traveling can be really stressful - getting all your stuff into a suitcase, dealing with security, and then keeping in touch with the kids while you're gone.

But a little planning can go a long way toward making your pre-departure prep less of a hassle! Learn how Sarah and her guest - a frequent business traveler - take the stress out of packing, navigating a new city, and staying connected with the family. You (and your kids!) will love the more "low-tech" ideas Sarah shares at about 5 minutes into the video.

My best travel tips....

  • PRINT hard copies of all of your confirmations so technology cannot fail you.
  • Print your boarding pass in advance and pay all baggage fees online before you go (usually cheaper).
  • When you book your ticket MAKE SURE you have a seat assignment so you are not bumped from an over booked flight.
  • Take a light sweater, shall and socks in your carry on.  If you get stuck in an airport for hours it is cold..... Also pack your chargers in your carry on... same reason.
  • Make reservations for or buy tickets ahead of time for cars, hotels, restaurants, shows, .... anywhere you can in advance so you are not disappointed when you get there and find everything sold out.
  • Packing list... and pack multi-functional clothes and comfortable shoes.
  • Make a set time to call your family.... I always call right before bed time and first thing in the morning while I am gone.   Plus send text/picture messages.
  • Pack a basic sewing and first aid kit.   You don't want to be in a strange place w/o transportation and really wish you had cold medicine, cough drops, pepto, benedril, a bandade or advil.

Great tips but I've never traveled without the kids before and don't plan on it any time soon.
