grandmagrandpaToday 9/9 is National Grandparents Day.

Are your grandparents still living?

Are your kids close to their grandparents?

What is one of your favorite memories with a grandparent and/or of your kids' with theirs?

I was close to my dad's parents - Grandpa died in his 60s when I was 7 and Grandma died when I was an adult in her late 80s.

I was SUPER SUPER close to my mom's parents even though my grandma died in her 60s when I was 5 I remember she was my best friend and she even lived with us at the end. I had a really hard time getting over her death and my grandpa was super super close to me all my life until he died at nearly 90 when I was 18.  When kids would say I was weird they would say NO you are just very special and they meant it. I felt such unconditonal love from these grandparents and I still feel they are a part of my life even now.

Also my grandparents lived walking distance from my house until I was 13 so I was at their house or them at mine a lot. Which I loved I could walk or ride my bike to their house anytime as often as I wanted from the time I was 5 I was allowed to.

My kids love Todd's parents very much but Todd's mom died with us at her side from lung cancer 2 yrs ago in her early 60s : (

My kids are very close to my parents even though my parents live long distance the kids are still close to them and my parents come visit and we go visit them and also when the kids were little my parents traveled long distance for every kids birthday for all 5 of them and also they would take one kid at a time back up to northern Mi on the lake where they live with them so they could spoil them one at a time with one on  one attention which our kids will cherish those memories all their lives even though they are all young adults now.

My parents are now 64 and 70 and we are all very close knit. One of the reasons  I ended up getting sooooo close to my parents as I grew into adult hood even though we had a rocky past was bc they are such awesome grandparents to our 5 kids and that means the world to us.

No my grandparents have been gone over 40 years.  Shannon has one set of grands left on her dad's side she was lucky enough to also get to know her dad's grand parents until they passed when she was 14.

i'm a grandma ,but the grandkids didn't say anything about it ,could it be because it's not considered a big deal, you don't hear much about it

I'm sure that's why, a LOT of people don't even know about it.  But here are celebratory wishes from me!
