The Air Force really takes care of their own

Our family is going through a difficult time right now. My father-in-law has been in and out of the hospital for the last two months for a heart condition and last week he went into to complete kidney failure. The Dr.s were hopeful at firts that after a week or so on dialyses his kidneys would open and start working on theri own again. Today he is being transferred to a local nursing home to start physical therapy but it's not looking so well. They are removing his IV  even though he has basically stopped eating and only drinking small amounts.

Of course Christin has been calling home daily to get updates on her grandpa. She has already been trying to plan on being home if he passes. When she called for the update today she was very upset. She called me back about 30 min. later and said that her superior officers want her to  take time right now to come home. She was confused becasue thought she wouldn't be able to until he had passed. They told her that if  that happens she will regret not going to see him now. She has just recently bought a car and pretty much depleted her saving with the down payment.  She said her ticket home will run aroun $ 570.00. Her immediate superior, Sgt. Earp, said that she is going to purchase the ticket for Christin and they will work out payment back when she returns.  Sgt. Earp said she was in the same situation with her grandfather and did not go home. She has never gotten over it.

I was just so touched to hear her telling me this. It's just more proof to me that the Air Force is  filled with wonderful people. And I am so happy that my daughter is part of it. I pray that one day she will be able to return this act of kindness to someone who finds themself in a similar situation.

Jeriann,

What more can I say but wow -- heartfelt, sincere, and there for you when you need them. Once again the USAF proves that it is the best of the best.

My thoughts and prayers will be with you and your family.

Thanks. Her Cmdr. approved it and she'll be here at 11:15 tommarow. Her gradmother wept when I told her Christin was coming. She said it's the best news she''s had in weeks.

Jeriann,

I'm so sorry for your family's pain and difficulties.  Thank you so much for taking the time to share this wonderful story.  You and your family will always cherish that she was able to get home to see her Grandpa.

You're in my prayers and thoughts, once I dry my eyes from this moving story.

I appreciate you guys taking the time to read and respond to my post. We went straight to see her grandpa after I got her from the airport and when he opened his eyes and saw her standing there, well..... I can't even describe his face. He just grabbed her and we all lost it.

God Bless,

Jeriann

I, am praying for you and your family.  I am glad that Christin made it home to see her Grandfather.  Her commanding officer deserves a big thank you from CafeMom's that are a member of the Air Force Group for coming to her aid.  You know you can write a letter of Thanks for her (Sgt Earp) records.  Be sure to let her know how special You and the rest of us, Air force Mom from CafeMom's think she is.

The USAF is the best. We are all lucky to be a tiny part of it all.

I'll be thinking of you through this difficult time.

If you want to send something to your daughters Sup, you can just find out what squadron she's with and just put that down on the addy and than GrandForks AFB , ND 58204 and it should get to the lady no problem.
