Hi. I'm new here and was wondering if I could get any advice to get ready for dh to leave next month. We have a 16 month old and i don't want him to forget his daddy. Any advice on how to prepare us for dh being gone?

Hi! My Dh graduated from basic oct 27th and is now in tech school at Fort Lee. We have a three year old. We talked about dadddy leaving and when we would see him again. I took pictures and laminated them and glued them to foam paper and made a book he could carry around. If you can get a recordable book and have ur Dh record himself reading it. Its an awesome thing I bawled the first time Logan and I listened to it lol. Logan would have "daddy" read to him every nite! Good luck hon!!!!

My son was 28 months and my daughter was 11 months when my husband left for basic.  They both remembered him.  I showed them a picture of him everyday.  It took a few hours for my daughter to warm back up to him, but did remember him. Good luck to you and your family :)
