Hi,
I just sent my oldes off to BMT for the Air Force on Tuesday, I am having a hard time dealing with not seeing him or talking to him, I sure could use some encouragement or even someone in my similar situation. I feel like I am greving and can't stand the thought of him not being here. He is a awesome kid(20) and I know he made a good choice, but knowing that our family is forever changed is killing me. I have a wonderful husbnad and 2 other great kids, I guess I am just looking for other Moms who can help me through these 8 weeks,
I'm sorry! My husband went through basic a little over a year ago. It was the longest 8 weeks of my life! We are actually stationed at Lackland. It is BEAUTIFUL here right now. It's not too hot and not too cold! It's somewhat overcast today, but not horribly gloomy. I hope it goes fast for you and your family. I know that it was not my son that left, so I don't know exactly how you are feeling. Sorry!
What helped me is writing letters to my son even if I did not mail them to him. And I spent a bit of quiet time each morning focusing on positive things. You'll get through this. It's ok to cry, too.
I think it's wonderful that we, as mothers, are capable of feeling such love for our children.
Take care. Hugs for you if you need them!

Write lots of letters! Also if you have a Facebook look up AF Wingmoms. It is FUULLLLL of moms and you can go through this time with other moms that are in your sons training week and even flight! It is such an exciting page and they have SO MUCH info. I am a wife and loved it even though I was a minority being a wife. Good luck to you through this time and to him I hope he does very well =).
I'm so sorry :( It sucks!!!! I agree with writing letters as much as possible. Just sharing your thoughts and feelings really helps. I'm sure he misses you as much as you miss him.
