Are sippy cups bad?

Did you use them? I heard it's better to give them cups that don't have stoppers. They don't really sell cups that have lids that aren't sippy cups. We tried one of those take and toss sippy cups, and she just loved it. Thoughts?

Dd is 15 months, so obviously a cup without a lid is not an option.

DS really didn't use one for very long.

He just uses a regular cup with no lid?

I don't see hte issue with sippy cups. My son used them until just recently actually. Now he uses regular cups with straws or tumblers.

Dd is still using sippy cups or cups with a lid and straw. I see no issue with them.

At this point it's not an issue. If she is still using it at 3 or 4 then it could be more of a problem.  Bug likes straw cups more than sippy cups.  He still hasn't figured out how to use a sippy cup.  We give him take and toss to practice and he's starting to get the hang of it.  He also has contigo water bottles with straws for water.  At home that is accessible all day.

Are the take and toss considered sippy cups? They don't have a stopper. I just don't she giving her a plain cup at this age. She will stick her hand in it.
