Oysters, here we come :)

Going to the beach tomorrow and eating at our favorite restaurant there.
They have fresh oysters and I can not wait to have a dozen... Yes a dozen to my face. I can taste them now the salty brine and all!

I do. It is now Rhumatoid Arthritis but I am not on any meds anymore just a pain reliever when I need it but pregnancy really helped it!
I think I was 6 when I was first diagnosed but was misdiagnosed 2 times in 4 months before they finally figured out what I had. It was an awful time my mom says... They thought leukemia for 3 months so I was being treated with chemo. After my dad said something about the raw oysters it wasn't till then they never explored a different diagnosis.
But I'm all better now :)

Quoting Kelly913:

Glad you had a good time!  Do you still have any effects of the JRA?

Quoting La-Belle-Vie:

I remember eating them as a child too.
Actually after eating one I came up really sick and ended up with Juvienille rheumatoid arthritis and the doctors think that I had a low immune system and eating the raw oysters didn't help.
Anyways yes this was part of the getaway!
It was very cold but really nice!

I don't know that I've tried oysters as an adult but my dad says I loved them as a young kid.  The beach sounds wonderful-is that part of the getaway your husband planned?

I can imagine it would be scary for your parents too!  I didn't know the symptoms of leukemia were that close to JRA.

I'm not sure they were. Actually the original doctor lost his liscense from the diagnosis and I was flown to a children's hospital with a new specialist who made the correct diagnosis within that day and started treatment but from what my mom said it was a rocky road getting back to brin healthy.
It was scary, I do not remember much but when my mom talks about it she cries.
