from the Facebook page of Farm Food Freedom Coalition:

IMPORTANT UPDATE: MICHIGAN FARMERS

Two farms were raided in the last week, the second raid last night, Friday, April 14, 2012.
First raid was in Cheboygan County, Michigan. The farmer was not on the premises but his farmhand told the DNR they could not search the farm without a warrant. The DNR was not able to secure a warrant from the local magistrate of that country and so left the premises. In response, the Farmer was served papers and is being sued by the DNR. His hearing will be this Friday, April 20, 2012. Farmer, Mark Baker of Bakers Green Acres will be interviewed that morning by the AP (Associated Press).
The second raid was last night in Kalkaska County, Michigan. By this point the DNR discovered they are able to secure warrants for other counties via the magistrate in Lansing (the state capitol). They came at 7AM with six trucks, heavy manpower, guns and the warrant. This farmer had sold all of his pigs prior to the raid out of fear of the DNR; fear could be said to be exactly the kind of response Big Pork/Big Ag/Big Biotech is hoping for.
The call-to-action to the governor’s office was effective in seriously taxing his office and forcing him to put additional manpower on staff to field the calls and faxes. That said, it appears this governor is under great duress to standby the DNR. Thank you for all who participated. Do not lose hope or be swayed from future participation. The journey to restore our food rights and set right this GROSS IMBALANCE will be done. That said, it is a journey and each step forward is invaluable to the overall goal. And as the saying goes, enjoy the journey (as best you can)!:)
Sheriff Richard Mack has offered to be in conversation with the sheriff for Marion County, Michigan (Mark Baker’s sheriff). Mark had met with his sheriff prior and the sheriff made it clear he would not uphold his constitutional responsibilities and protect his citizens. We are awaiting further development as a result of Sheriff Mack’s conversations with this sheriff or any other sheriffs throughout Michigan.
Stay tuned for further updates and calls-to-action. Donations for an ongoing suit between Mark Baker (bakersgreenacres.com) and the DNR can be made via bakersgreenacres.com. Thank You.

Quoting larschick:

What's the DNR????

Department of Natural Resources.  Their job is to take care of the public lands, state parks, wildlife, etc.  They have NEVER had jurisdiction over private property until they took it upon themselves to eradicate pigs on small farms.
