Posted by   + Show Post

Do you make special desserts for the Fourth of July? I love any reason to make a delicious dessert and there are so many options for Independence Day. From cookies to cupcakes, adding a little red, white, or blue coloring can be a nice touch to a Fourth of July celebration!

Here are a few recipe ideas:

What do you normally make for dessert? Is it holiday themed?

We don't make special desserts, we do however enjoy crawfish and watermelon on this day!

I usually make this big white cake with buttercream icing in the shape of a star and put red, white and blue decorations on it.

Not usually, but this year I'm thinking of doing something different. I'm leaning towards a red, white, and blue parfait similar to a Christmas one I did years ago in pudding. I'll use a little food coloring to tint vanilla pudding to the colors we want and layer it into wine glasses with whipped cream. It'll be cute and "fancy" for the kids.

Since we carry a picnic, I usually just take cookies and fruit. Maybe I should buy some patriotic cookies, since I'm not cookie decorator, lol.

I do love trifles, though, and this one sounds great!

I have made a sherbert dish that looks like a watermelon. Nothing that we have to make.

I make a cupcake cake in shape of a flag. I found some new recipes this year to try from Pinterest.
