Savor Summer Day 10: Plan Your Menu

Posted by   + Show Post

What do you normally eat on the Fourth of July? Today's challenge is to plan your July 4th menu. Here are some of my favorite things to make:

  • Stuffed burgers
  • Special toppings for hot dogs -- onions, peppers, cheese, condiments
  • Salads -- pasta, potato, fruit
  • Potato chips
  • Coleslaw

What's on the menu for your family?

Just the sound of it is making my mouth watery!!

your desserts sound delicious!

The menu's not firm yet, but here's what I'm thinking:

bratwurst

fresh broccoli salad, although coleslaw sounds more appealing so it might change

gotta have potato salad

deviled eggs

pavlova or cream cheese tart with strawberries and blueberries

homemade frozen red/white/blue treats

I love my hubby's family but one thing they are not good at is planning, so I have no idea what is going on for the 4th yet!!

My husband is the same way.  He likes to just do things as they happen. Over the years he has learned to call a restaurant first to make sure they are open rather than drive 2 hours to get there and find it is closed,  or to reserve a room in a hotel instead of just showing up and assuming there will be a room available. My dad was the same way though. His idea of a trip was to get in the car and drive until you wanted to stop and then look for a motel.

It's usually burgers, chicken, hot dogs, baked beans, cole slaw, potato salad, rolls or cornbread, chips, birthday cake (my younger brothers were born on the 4th of July), ice cream, pie of some kind, and cookies.
