I don't have much extra counter space. I have found that I can place my meal plan & recipes in the plate holders in the dish drainer while I'm using them. Then put them back in the file when I'm finished. (This works great when I'm making a large holiday meal with around 10 recipes going at the same time and those helping need easy access to the recipes too.)
The other tip is for storing plastic grocery bags. I started putting them in an empty 12 pack soda box. A lot will fit into a box at the open end and can be dispensed through the hand carry opening. The thing that I like is that the box will fit in a lot of narrow cubbies especially under the sink. (best of all ... the box & bags can be recycled when you get too many!)
Geez there's another one but I can't remember what it is. I totally should make notes :)
dh said the tip for putting recipes in the dish drainer was absolutely dumb. (You can also put ingredients in there to save space too.) I don't always need a recipe or use recipe holder every day. I have noticed that when I put these things in there, the family is looking in the drainer to see what I'm doing and no interruptions.
What if there's already stuff in there draining? Like the dds' use it when they wash their dolls in the sink and let them drip dry in the drainer :)
good ideas!
