Did I mess it up? Cock pot meal..

I'm making this beef sliders in the crock pot. It said to cook on low for 4 hours in water then shread the beef, add sauce then cook another 4 hours. Well I goofed and cooked on high for 3 hours, oops! It's hard and no way I can shread it with a fork. What should I do???

maybe add the sauce to help add moisture back into the meat and try shredding it in a couple of hours?

I agree with trying to add more sauce.  I hope it will work for you, I've never had that problem with meat in the crock.

It's still in water right now, it doesn't want you to add the sauce till its shredded. Maybe it just needs more time cooking?

Me either:/ it's in water still. I needed to cook it in a cup of water. So it's still about half way up the meat.

Most beef gets tight like that while it's cooking ... then gets soft enough to shred toward the end.

There's not that much difference between high & low crock-pot temp. If I had to rename the settings, it would be - cook, warm, rest!

If you're cooking "bottom round" roast, it will take about 8 hours. If it's 3 lbs or more, you can cut it in half now so the center starts cooking. Just put the cut sides face down in the crock-pot.
