Here's a list of things I like to do with my son during during Sept and Oct.

Feel free to add yours below as well, maybe we'll get some new ideas from one another!

1) of course, carve pumpkins!

We go to a farm that has a pumpkin patch and pick our own

2) Make candy apples

We make all sorts, but heres an easy starter recipe

Caramel Apples

12 apples (plus 12 popsicle sticks)
4 14-ounce packages of caramels
8 tablespoons heavy cream
crushed nuts

Rinse apples, pat dry, and remove apple stems and insert a popsicle stick into stem of each apple. Combine the cream and caramels in a saucepan over medium heat. Stir constantly until caramel is melted and smooth. Dip the apples into the caramel until completely covered. Let the extra caramel drip back into the saucepan. Roll in crushed nuts.

Line a baking sheet with waxed paper. Place apples upside down on waxed paper and refrigerate

3) Various craft projects- we make bats, ghosts, pumpkins, owls, leaf collages, bookmarks, wizard hats and wands, and whatever else I can find to do.

I use a lot of the Usborne Things to Do and Activity Books with my son, TONS of ideas!

4) Hayride

5) Farmers Market

Our local farmers market is great, I let me son pick out fresh fruits and veggies as well as what I wish to buy, then I let him help me with easy recipes that use the items he picked

6) Pumpkin bowling!!

7) Bonfires

We love to have backyard fires and toast marshmallows, make smores, and tell stories

8) Make our own decorations

We usually make a scarecrow, and come up with new ideas for other deco too

9) Collect fallen leaves

We take walks and collect leaves of all shapes and colors, then we use them for craft projects

10) Feed the squirrels and birds

There's some of mine, enjoy!
