I have a question for all of you that are Military Wives- why do some people get offended when they are asked what there Hubby's rank is? My DH was Active Army for a while and it never bothered me when I was asked. Just curious... :-)

Because your husbands rank should have nothing to do with anything outside work.
Higher enlisted and officer spouses tend to look down on lower enlisted and essentially "wear" their husbads rank thinking they are better then others.

So it becomes offensive, because it doesn't matter.

I agree this is the reason as well. It doesn't bother me when someone asks about my DH. If you enlisted on your own free will to serve our country and put your life at risk for others to have the freedoms they do, it doesn't matter if you're an officer or an E-nothing. Its about pride it what you've chosen for your life.

I've honestly never been asked my dh rank so it's never bothered me. My family and friends already know his rank but I do agree with sierralynn.

My dh was active Air Force and it never bothered me for someone to ask his rank. Was no different to me than if you work at Mc Donald's and someone asking oh what do you do there. I did find that enlisted wives tended not to act like they wore their dh rank like the officers wives did.

isn't there a difference in pay the higher rank you have?
