Why is it men try to lie about pain even though you can tell he hurts?
My dh hurt his sternum on Saturday, it took me until yesterday to go see a doctor. He separated a rib. Now he thinks he is going to race next Monday. I just don't know how to convey my concern about him hurting his self. Can anyone help?

He probably wants you to think of him as a big strong invinvible guy. I think if you make him feel like you think of him like that, but are concerned, it could help.

Just a guess, trying to help.

My husband does this all the time. Guys like to feel manly, you kinda just gotta get him through it. Shove him in the car to go to the doctor, put him on the couch instead of letting him out. Don't act sorry for him, just make him sit down and get healthy. He can watch the race instead of go to it. If it really comes down to it, get him tickets to the next race and temp him with them.

Oh, I'm sorry! I thought you meant Nascar or something. Maybe you guys could both just go and watch, and not let him participate?

Thet think that they cant get hurt like they can handle the pain. and when they actually do hurt, they act like it doesnt hurt that bad, but really its killing them.

My husband is the same exact way. Last Thursday he injured his shoulder. I did manage to get him to the er on Friday. I knew he had injured it at work mainly because he doesn't wait to get help from anyone else. He lifts things that 2 people should lift not my husband.

So when we went to the er. I asked the doctor to tell him to stop being stubborn and not lift certain things alone.

This was the response from the doctor.

"I can't I'm a man too."

I responded back so I was right all men are idiots.

He laughed and said "yes we are. We really are."
