serving size question - OT

Hello ladies, I have a question about serving sizes. Me and dh are trying to eat helthier and live a healthier life style. Tonight for dinner dh got us salads from Subway, I went on Subways's website to find out how many calories our salads were. The nutrition menu said serving size 333??? What does that mean??? How can something be 333 servings. I know what serving size means on a regular food label but not that. I also saw other websites that say weird serving size amounts. Taco Bell's website said a taco salad from there is 400 and something servings. Can someone please explain?!? Thank you!

Sorry I get baffled that a lot of people don't know how to read labels.

I said I knew what that meant on a food label but what would you have though when you saw 333 for serving size?!

I'm not looking at the label but I'd assume grams. Serving and than below is serving per container/product/ect.

Nope... Maybe you should go subways website and look at the nutrition for a salad and let me know what you think!

333 grams is the weight of the food (lettuce and whatever other vegetables) and I'd be willing to bet that the calories before don't reflect the calories after when you add the dressing so be careful with that.

People often assume salad is the healthier choice, especially at a "fast food" place, but that's often wrong because the dressing is loaded with fat and calories.  A "serving size" of dressing is often a tablespoon or two.

http://m.subway.com/pages/menu-landing?menuId=36 next to serving size there is a (g) that means grams. The salad is weighed in that unit. Since there is no serving per container and 333 grams is not too large it's safe to assume its one serving. Understand?

I thought about the dressing afterwards. You are do right about thinking that salads would be best, I went to a few fast food websites and compared salads to other items and the had at least double the calories.
