This is the first death we will have had since having our girls. 5 & 2.5.
When I mentioned it to my cousin & niece (both like sisters to me), they both said they wouldn't take the girls.
Neither of the girls were close to him, but they know him. It's my FIL's dad. He & his wife live across the street from my MIL & FIL. (3 hours from us) We see them several times a year. They come to my girls' bday parties.
Have you all been in this situation? What have/would you do?
I just don't know.
**edit** thank you for all the replies. We got a text from DH's stepmom this morning. His grandma had a massive stroke last night & is now in the same ICU as his grandpa. I don't know anything about strokes or the outcome. She is in her 80's & her health has declined over the last several years. (**note**his grandparents are not the same couple. Grandpa is DH stepdad's dad. Grandma is his paternal grandma.)
I have a feeling this week is going to be terrible.
Visitation for gpa is tonight & the funeral is tomorrow. I've decided to take the girls to visitation & se how they do knowing I will step out with them or leave early with them. Depending on how visitation goes will determine my steps for the funeral tomorrow.
Gma is in her final hours. All life supporting measures have been removed.
