I posted here on 5-9 that we found out my dad had cancer. On 5-31 we went to see the oncologist and the prognoses was on average as wide spread as his was the doc told him 6 months. 2 weeks after we were told my dad has another stroke (Wednesday afternoon). Well the docs set us down yesterday and explained to us that he does not have much time. I'm talking he might not make it thru this weekend. They took out his feeding tube and IV. The only thing they are doing is wiping cold water over his lips. So we are just waiting. I hate seeing him in so much pain. It's so bad it's in his bones now. They are keeping him as comfortable as they can. I feel nothing but anger right now. Sorry so long and such a downer, I had to get that out. It's not fair I don't get much more time with him, but this is all in gods hands now. I hate to say it, but I pray to god that he takes dad soon and that he goes in no pain.

I'm so sorry.  Having the time you thought you had ripped away is frightening, and I understand your anger.  Just be there for him and let you know how much he means to you.  Hopefully his time left will be filled with the people he loves and he can pass with peace in his heart.  Good luck to you and your family in this difficult time!

I am so sorry. I understand exactly how you feel. We went through this with mil and my mom both. Its horrible watching them suffer and slip away. I pray he passes peacefully and the Lord comfort your family.

Have you and the rest of your family told him that it is okay for him to go? I know it is hard, I have been through this several times with my family, I know it hurts.

i am VERY sorry for you and your family. The good news- you are almost threw all the steps of grief. After this anger its just more sadness. I lost my grandfather to cancer in  march 2006. He was like my father. Him and my grandmother raised me since I was a little girl. Everyday I look at my little boy wishing that my Papa was here to see him. Everything you are feeling is completely normal. Death is sad. But with Life comes Death. The one thing that we are all guaranteed from the moment we are concieved is that one day we will die. I wish you father easy passing- its never an easy thing to watch your loved one go threw. All the doctor visits and weeks in and out of a hospital. Anyways- Keep your loved ones that you have near- they will help you get threw this.

I'm sorry....my dad died of a stroke.  He was a bit aware for awhile and decided he didn't want to live so they just made him comfortable.  Losing a parent is never easy.
