2.-Would you replace them with less expensive but identical ones? If you did, would you tell him that you did so?
3.- What do u think his reaction would be?
One if my nearest and dearest friends is going through this and I have no idea what to tell her for advice.
I mean, they Are her rings, not his? Though he did spend thousands on them (according to her) Idk. What are Your views?
EDIT - Thank you Ladies for all the responses! and I will get back to you after I speak to her tonight concerning whether or not they have insurance.
Atleast I know what to advise her to do. I'm going to jokingly tell her "Stop being a punk and tell him" she'll laugh, hopefully take my advice and let him know.
EDIT 2: she says theres no insurance on the rings
I would tell my hubby and yes we would probably replace it. I don't know if it would be as expensive as the first it would depend on our budget at the time. I still remember the first diamond hubby gave me. He saved up all his money for it and it was gorgeous. However my finger size shrunk or something and the ring fell off. Never was able to find it. I was crying when i told him, but he was understanding.
My hubby would buy me a new one depending on money issues:)
I don't know if I can really give any good advice, seeing that I can tell my husband pretty much anything. If I loose mine he might be a little grumpy and if we couldn't afford a good replacement he'd get me a cheap one till a better one was managable.

I would tell him & knowing my husband I'm sure he would say we can get a new one, and he would pick out a new one & re-propose.
Quoting vwd_johnson:
I would tell my husband the second it was missing. Replacing it would lose all meaning to the ring for me.. so no I wouldn't replace it.

I'm not real keen on rings anyway.
I wouldn't go through all the trouble of trying to get a fake one.
